We’ve simplified our ABA authorization response process
June 1, 2023

This article is for providers who perform ABA services

Starting June 1, 2023, the response you receive from us for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) authorization requests will look different. If your request is approved, instead of receiving a varying number of authorizations based on the requested services, you will now receive the following two authorizations:

  • One for ABA Assessment (Behavior Identification Assessment)
  • One for ABA Treatment (all other ABA services)

This new process will happen automatically. You do not need to change how you submit authorizations via Authorization Manager.

Why are we doing this?

This change allows us to review your requests more efficiently and consolidate multiple responses into just two authorization numbers.

Authorization Manager requirement

As a reminder, effective June 1, 2023, all providers are required to submit initial authorization requests and inquiries electronically through Authorization Manager rather than by phone or fax for our commercial (HMO, PPO, Indemnity) and Federal Employee Program (FEP) members. Authorization Manager is the most efficient method to submit requests, and it’s available 24/7 at no additional cost via single sign-on through Provider Central! Here are some useful resources:
