Now accepting authorization requests for treatment dates July 1 and beyond

The AIM ProviderPortalSM is now open, and you can begin requesting authorization for dates of service on and after July 1 for commercial and Medicare Advantage members. Without an approved authorization, your claim will deny.

Whether it’s a new case or continuation of care, you’ll need an approved authorization even if services were covered before July 1.

How do I access the portal?

You can access the AIM ProviderPortal through Provider Central without any additional registration. Just log in and go to eTools>AIM Specialty Health.

Or, you can go directly to AIM at www.providerportal.com. If you’ve already registered for the AIM ProviderPortal for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts or another insurer, you won’t need to register again.

How does AIM make determinations for continuity of care?
  • Requests that meet medical necessity will receive an immediate response in the AIM ProviderPortal and will not require further review.
  • Requests that do not meet medical necessity will require you to answer a few questions.
    • AIM will review your responses and make a determination based on continuity of care rules.

New Cancer Care page on Provider Central

We’ve added a new page on Provider Central to help you with the program. Click here to access our new Cancer Care page. If you are logged in, you’ll find even more resources, including links to our webinar slides and a recording of the webinars.

The page explains:

  • Which members and services require authorization
  • The step-by-step process of requesting authorization through AIM
  • The information you need to enter for both medical and radiation oncology requests
