We’re sending test kits to Medicare Advantage members with diabetes
August 28, 2025

This article is for providers caring for our Medicare Advantage members.

In our ongoing effort to support preventive care, we’re working with Let’s Get Checked®', an independent company, to deliver in-home test kits for A1c and kidney health to eligible Medicare Advantage members with diabetes.1

These self-collection test kits offer a convenient option for critical, diabetes-related screenings— at no cost to our members.

  • The kidney health kit supports the Kidney Health Evaluation for Patients with Diabetes (KED) HEDIS measure, which assesses whether patients have received annual kidney health evaluation, including a blood test for kidney function (eGFR: estimated glomerular filtration rate) and a urine test for kidney damage (uACR: urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio).
  • The A1c kit is a standard blood-spot testing kit.

What members can expect

  • Eligible members will receive letters to opt-in to receive test kits for A1c, KED, or both.
  • If they opt-in, the kit will be mailed to them and includes everything they need to collect a sample at home and send it to the lab for processing.
  • Let’s Get Checked will mail results to members—and their PCP2—within 7-10 business days after the kit has been received for processing.
  • If test results significantly deviate from the normal range, our Clinical Quality team will call the member and their PCP to inform them. We’re also advising members to discuss test results and other screenings they may need with their PCP.

Let’s Get Checked will submit claims to us directly for completed tests, including CPT II codes to capture the A1c results. There will be no cost to the member for these claims submitted through the program. Participation in this program does not affect members' ability to have A1c tests requested by their provider.

See our letters to members for more information.

1 Kits will be sent to Medicare Advantage members who haven’t had these screenings based on our claims data as of July 2025.
2 If member has selected a PCP that is listed in Blue Cross’ system.
