Beginning January 1, 2020, small primary care groups will have the opportunity to participate in a payment model that rewards them for high-quality and affordable care.
Program will focus on quality and efficiency
The program will be built on managing both quality and cost of care, with incentives offered based on the primary care group’s ability to manage total cost of care and quality. In addition, successful groups can earn enhanced rates and fees to help them manage their member population. The primary care group’s financial risk is limited.
To participate in the incentive programs for HMO or PPO, the primary care group must have at least 1,500 Blue Cross members in one or both of those products.
