This article is intended for providers who may have been overpaid by Anthem between July 22- July 26, 2019.
We recently learned about an overpayment on claims for Anthem Blue Cross members. This happened with payments mailed or transmitted electronically from July 22, 2019 through July 26, 2019. We’re sorry for this error and any inconvenience it causes.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts paid the claims. Then, Anthem mistakenly issued a duplicate payment. Anthem is now correcting the mistake by reversing their payments.
What can you do?
If you have not cashed the check or used a virtual card for the duplicate payment, please destroy the check or virtual card information.
If you have already deposited the payment and you incur bank fees because of this error, you can request a refund for those fees. We’ll need either:
