Helping patients with diabetes get important retinal screenings
November 1, 2024

This article is for providers caring for our Medicare Advantage members

As you know, patients with diabetes need annual retinal screenings. This can be challenging to schedule, especially at the end of the year. This is why we’re working with 20/20 Onsite, an independent mobile screening vendor, to perform retinal eye exams at two Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts office buildings.

A 20/20 Onsite van will be parked in Hingham and Quincy for Medicare Advantage members with diabetes who haven’t had a claim for a retinal eye screening as of September 2024. Eligible members will receive a postcard with information on how to schedule appointments using 20/20 Onsite’s online scheduling platform: try.2020onsite.com/bcbs, or by leaving a voicemail at 1-617-356-8117. The currently available dates are listed below; additional dates may be added in the future.

Location Date and time
25 Technology Place, Hingham, MA 02043 November 15, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
1 Enterprise Drive, Quincy, MA 02171 November 18, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

20/20 Onsite will submit claims to Blue Cross for these services and share the results with the PCP identified by the member during the exam. If you believe one of your Medicare Advantage patients is due for a diabetic eye exam but did not receive our mailed invitation for this opportunity, they can contact 20/20 Onsite directly using the above website.

Helping to close gaps in care

This is just one of the ways that we’re helping members with diabetes take care of their health. We will continue to let you know of future outreaches to our members.
