NICU level of care authorization program delayed until Nov 1
July 27, 2023

This article is for acute care hospitals, neonatologists, and pediatricians caring for our members

We previously notified you that we would begin a partnership with ProgenyHealth to enhance our support of premature and medically complex infants and their families beginning on September 1. We are moving the start date to November 1 to ensure that this program can be smoothly implemented.

When the program begins on November 1, ProgenyHealth will manage the process for NICU level of care authorizations using InterQual criteria on our behalf. It will apply to our commercial (HMO, PPO, and Indemnity) members, and exclude our Medicare Advantage and Federal Employee Program members. For babies with approved NICU coverage, ProgenyHealth will provide care management during the NICU stay and for the first year of the baby’s life.

We will announce new dates for educational webinars in early September.
