Provider directory update & reminder to keep information current

When members are looking for medical care, online provider directories are important tools for helping them find network providers. Patients and their caregivers rely on our directories for contact and other critical information when making health care decisions.

That's why it's important that our online resources are accurate. The law requires us to keep the information on our website current, and we can't do it without your help. This requirement applies to all providers in our network.

Important: CAQH Direct Assure
The Direct Assure provider directory validation project is underway. Together, all Massachusetts health plans are working with the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH) to create a streamlined solution for a seamless provider experience.

  • The roll-out of the directory validation process will be phased since Massachusetts health plans are all on different timelines. The initial CAQH implementation will be staggered by health plans, beginning this summer with a subset of individual, primary care, and behavioral health providers, and expanding to other providers over time.
  • Blue Cross will gradually be moving our network onto DirectAssure and will notify you when we add your providers to the process.
  • Eventually, all health plans will use Direct Assure and providers will have a streamlined solution for directory validation.
  • Until then, we'll work to minimize impacts to providers during this ramp-up period. Please know that the end-state will be a seamless provider experience.

Verify that what’s on our website is correct.

  1. Go to Find a Doctor & Estimate Costs. You don't need to log in, just select one of the networks you participate in.
  2. Check the record for all your site locations*.

    Be sure to check:

    • Addresses
    • Phone numbers
    • Specialties
    • Medical groups
    • Hospital affiliations
    • Gender
    • Board certification
    • Languages spoken
    • Whether you are accepting new patients
    • Whether you offer telemedicine

    * Only addresses where members can make appointments with clinicians should be in the directory.

  3. If everything is accurate, you don’t need to do anything else.
