Provider directory updates with CAQH DirectAssure coming soon

This article is for primary care, professional, and behavioral health providers, and for office staff who manage the accuracy and completeness of provider data. This data includes information such as name, address, telephone number, panel status and specialty type as recorded in our system and displayed in provider directories so patients can reach you.

This month, we are implementing CAQH DirectAssure with a small user group of individual, primary care, and behavioral health providers.

DirectAssure works with the CAQH ProView®’ system to enable providers to submit professional and practice information and share it with multiple health plans, streamlining the data submission process. This ensures that your patients have the most up-to-date and accurate information available to find you for the care they need.   

We want to make sure you are aware of this implementation because you may receive CAQH emails and see ProView screen prompts, even if you are not in the user group.

We are phasing in the implementation
To ensure the provider experience using ProView DirectAssure is as smooth as possible, we are initially collaborating with a user group of providers. This user group is helping us to better understand how the system works, how we receive directory updates from providers, and to confirm that updates are listed accurately in our provider directories.

We plan to roll this out more broadly in the coming months and will notify you when your practitioners or organization are added to the process.

You may be affected by our initial phase
Even if you are not part of the user group, if you (or your group or organization) are listed as a point of contact for any practitioner participating in the user group, you will receive:

  • Emails from CAQH every 90 days reminding you to validate the accuracy of directory data
  • Screen prompts in ProView related to practice locations

How will I know if I need to go to the DirectAssure module?
When you log onto CAQH ProView, if you see prompts related to the DirectAssure module, please respond to them. Your actions on these prompts will help us to display the most current and accurate location in our provider directories.

What will the ProView DirectAssure process be like?

  1. Log on to ProView to attest or re-attest as usual.
  2. Follow prompts displayed as appropriate and select “Accept,” “Reject,” or “I Don’t Know.”
    • If an address is unfamiliar to you, CAQH recommends that you select “I Don’t Know.” 
    • This option will allow you to proceed to attest, while keeping the location available for the appropriate provider organization to accept or reject. 
  3. Continue through the practitioner’s profile, as usual.
  4. Select “I Attest” as you normally do to complete an updated profile.
