We’re helping to reduce cost surprises
December 16, 2019

This article is for primary care providers, family practitioners, internal medicine doctors

In an effort to reduce cost surprises for our members, beginning in November and throughout 2020, we will begin emailing and calling our members with information to help them prepare for their upcoming routine health checkup. (Routine health checkup is what we are calling the well visit with our members).

We’ll use this opportunity to educate members on preventive and diagnostic care and their costs.  You may get questions from your patients about these reminders.

We have posted an online toolkit() with fact sheets for you and your patients to help reduce a cost surprise associated with a routine health checkup.

  • For the provider: poster for your office, fact sheet about labs and imaging centers and a letter you can send to your patients about their routine health checkup.
  • For the patient: we have fact sheets you can give to the patient on preventive vs. diagnostic care, emergency room alternatives, how your deductible works, and preventive care costs.

Log in to Provider Central and go to the Patient Engagement tab, then Tools & Resources>Practice-related Materials.

As always, thank you for the care you provide to your patients—our members.
