This article is for medical providers.
Employers across the US are looking for greater value for their healthcare dollars, and they want a seamless experience—whether their employee lives in Boston, Massachusetts or the San Francisco Bay Area in California.
We’re working together with other Blue plans to offer Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) plans with a Blue High Performance NetworkSM. The Blue High Performance Network is designed to provide employers with a consistent, cost-effective, national network.
To develop the network, we followed the same methodology used to determine the existing Blue Select network, and applied it to all providers in Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, and Suffolk counties.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and other Blue plans will begin offering plans with this network to certain self-insured, national employers in 2020 for an effective date no earlier than January 1, 2021.
While cost is always top of mind, quality is what sets high-value, high-performing healthcare apart from healthcare that’s simply lower cost. With this in mind, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association—working Blue plans nationwide—expects to evolve this network to focus on areas of quality that will bring additional value and improve member outcomes.
We’ll provide more information when we know there are members with this network who may start getting care in Massachusetts.
