Blue Cross proudly sponsors several public health and fitness programs designed to support local communities. We encourage our providers to motivate our members to participate in these opportunities.

Free fitness programming

Classes for every age and ability:

  • Afrobeat Dance
  • Boxing
  • Chair yoga
  • HIIT
  • Meditation
  • Salsa
  • Tai chi
  • Yoga
  • Zumba

Free group-exercise classes led by certified trainers are available in greater Boston and Worcester. Participants get a great workout while connecting socially, supporting their physical and emotional health. Programming is run by city government and not-for-profit organizations with flagship sponsorship by Blue Cross.  

  • The City of Boston’s year-round programming includes indoor, virtual, and, during the summer months, outdoor workouts in city parks. View the class schedule
  • The Esplanade Association hosts group exercise in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Blue Cross sponsors its winter “Frost Fitness” series, held outside along the Charles River Esplanade. Find a class.

National Fitness Campaign Fitness Courts®

More than a dozen cities and towns across Massachusetts are home to Fitness Courts, which offer free, accessible, and safe outdoor recreation to community members.

  • A Fitness Court is a best-in-class outdoor gym designed by experts in functional fitness and bodyweight training.  
  • Every court is connected to a free fitness Court App with a library of workout challenges and health kit metrics. 
Boston Swim Safe Program

We work with the City of Boston and Boston Public Health Commission to offer the Swim Safe Program. The program focuses on families in Dorchester, East Boston, Hyde Park, Mattapan, and Roxbury, who historically have had less access to safe swimming opportunities.  

Swim Safe offers: 

  • Free swim lessons for children ages 6 months to 18 years 
  • Free life jackets for youth 
  • Incentives and free training for lifeguards
